"All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reason, passion, and desire." Aristotle "All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reason, passion, and desire." Aristotle Once you've sketched out your story and characters, why not use some or all of these "forces" of action to move your plot along. chance - Ah, I love this one. Not only is chance wide open, it can offer meaning and reason behind an otherwise lost idea, or scene. Chance gives you freedom, opening the door to a wide array of possibilities. nature - Another favorite of mine. The unpredictable ness of nature coupled with its vast seemingly unlimited possibilities lends itself an excellent choice in action adventure flicks, shorts, novels. compulsion - the dark forces can be habit - can get reason - what? Who needs reason? passion - the never ending canvas to paint on. I'm going to add impulse - impulse is another wide open source of variety. Your quest may be to get some hamburgers at White Castle and impulsively, you stop and pick up a hitchhiker.
